From your bedroom to the runway. Daily routine, walking, posing, at-home polas and how to spot an agency you can trust: everything nobody tells you when you start.
A model's routine
Discipline before glamour.
Agencies pick faces, but they keep the girls they can rely on. These are the habits every new face should build from day one.
A typical day
- 06:30Wake up, water and stretching

Sacred sleep
7-9 hours: skin, eyes and mood all show on camera. No late nights before a casting.
Clean skin
Cleanse, moisturise, SPF every day. Go to castings make-up free.
Posture
Pilates, yoga or dance: a toned body and a straight back matter more than any diet.
Nutrition
Eat full, regular meals. No serious agency will ever ask you to starve.
The casting bag
Book or tablet with your photos, fresh polas, simple black heels, nude underwear, fitted black top, water, make-up wipes, ID.
Mindset
You'll hear a lot of "no": it's not a judgement on you, it's a different brief. Punctuality, kindness and consistency build a career.
How to walk
The runway is a line.
Your walk can be trained: 15 minutes a day in front of a full-length mirror, barefoot first, then in simple heels.

Posture
Shoulders down and back, long neck, chin parallel to the floor. Picture a thread pulling you up from the top of your head.
- 02
The step
One foot in front of the other on an imaginary line. Heel first, then the ball of the foot. Long, confident steps, never dragged.
- 03
The hips
Movement starts from the hips, not the shoulders. Let them sway naturally, without overdoing it.
- 04
Arms & hands
Arms relaxed by your sides, barely swinging. Soft hands, fingers slightly curled: never fists or stiff hands.
- 05
Eyes & end of runway
Fix a point at eye level, neutral and decisive expression. At the end: stop, hold for 2 seconds, turn and go.
How to pose for photos
Know your angles.
Nothing is random in front of the lens. Study your face in the mirror and try these rules for every kind of shoot.

- 03Change your pose every frame, even by a few centimetres
Golden rule: study shoots of the models you love in magazines and campaigns, then recreate the poses in the mirror, holding each one for 3 seconds.
Snaps & polas at home
The photos agencies really want.
You don't need an expensive photoshoot. Agencies want to see you as you are: simple, natural, no filters.
Natural light
In front of a window, during the day, out of direct sun. Never flash or coloured lights.
Plain background
A white or light wall, nothing behind you.
Basic outfit
Fitted black top or tank, skinny jeans or shorts, barefoot or simple black heels.
Zero make-up
Clean face, hair tucked behind your ears (plus one with hair down). No jewellery.
The phone
Get help: shoot straight on at chest height, 2-3 metres away for full-length shots. No filters.
Sending them
Email the agency with name, age, height, measurements, city and 4-6 polas. Clear subject line, light files.
Choosing an agency you can trust
A real agency never asks you for money.
Tick what happened with the agency that contacted you: the test will tell you whether you can trust them.

- They have a real office, an official website and a verifiable model board
- They give you time to have the contract read by someone you trust
- They clearly explain advanced expenses and how they are recouped
